Boomerangs Resale Store was established in 2008 with the goal of meeting the needs of people in the Madison community. The resale store provides high quality, gently used household items at a reasonable price. All profits will continue to be invested in the community. Read more about our story below.
On September 9th, 2018 Boomerangs Resale Store celebrated 10 amazing and blessed years of being a part of the Northside community.
We couldn’t have done it without generous donors who continue to donate high-quality items that make our store worth shopping, loyal customers who choose to shop with us and bring their friends and numerous faithful volunteers who have worked thousands of hours to make it all possible.
For all of this we are sincerely thankful.
This milestone led us to reflect on how it all began. Boomerangs was started when the Door Creek Church Leadership Team and Stewardship Board felt compelled to share Christ’s compassion by meeting the needs of those on Madison’s north side.
Opening a resale store would do this in two ways; providing goods at affordable prices and sharing proceeds with other faith-based, non-profit groups in the north side. Some of the proceeds would be set aside in the hopes of one day opening a ministry center on the north side.
After much prayer and countless hours of volunteer work, Boomerangs became a reality and opened its doors for the first time on September 9th, 2008.
After a devastating fire in 2011, God gave us “beauty from the ashes” (Isaiah 51:3) and Boomerangs grew not only in square footage, but in reputation. A truck was gifted to use, enabling us to offer delivery services and easily collect furniture donations. Boomerangs was becoming a place where needs were being met; physically for those in financial need, spiritually through prayer and emotionally through genuine friendships.
Fast forward to today and Boomerangs continues to thrive, and the hoped-for ministry center has become a church. Just a few doors down from Boomerangs, Door Creek Church Northside Campus celebrated its grand opening on September 9th, 2018, exactly 10 years (to the day) after Boomerangs opened its doors. All of this is so much more than we could have ever asked for or imagined.
